1 Month on LCHF — What Actually Changed

Trail lunch — shrimp, avocado, mixed nuts, boiled eggs, and a bulletproof coffee 😊

One month in. Here's what I noticed.

Weight

I lost 4kg in the first month. I wasn't trying to lose weight — that wasn't the point of this. But it happened.

4kg might sound modest depending on the person — but where it came from made the difference. The excess fat around my belly and thighs reduced noticeably, and it feels like I've dropped about two clothing sizes. Clothes that used to be too tight are now loose on me.

There's just one ironic side effect: as the belly fat reduced, a lump on my abdomen became more visible than before.

I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry about that one.

The unexpected one: my mood

This is the one I didn't see coming.

The first round of chemotherapy left me infertile. I'm still getting my period, but my hormone levels are close to what you'd see in a menopausal woman — which means I'd been dealing with something like early menopause for a while. Mood swings that had nothing to do with how I actually felt about things. Irritability that would show up uninvited. Not really me, but also — there it was.

When I told people I was switching to a meat-heavy diet, someone joked: "Won't eating only meat make you aggressive?"

One month later, I'm calmer than I've been in a long time. Less reactive. The mood swings have quieted down noticeably.

To be honest — this is closer to my actual personality. I'm not naturally a moody person. But somewhere in the middle of treatment and hormone changes, that version of me got harder to find.

I don't know exactly why this happened. Whether it's the diet, the reduction in carbohydrates, the change in how my body is processing things — I can't say for certain. I'm not making a scientific claim here.

But I noticed it. And it matters.

That's it for now

No dramatic scan results to share yet. No conclusions.

Just a lighter body and a quieter mind — one month in.

The next real data point comes in June, when I have a hospital visit and blood work scheduled.

I'll write about that when I have something worth saying.
